Rollins College's Holt School Student Government Plants Tree for Earth Day 2005
May 3, 2005
In observance of national Earth Day festivities held on Friday, April 22, the Hamilton Holt Student Government Association (HHSGA) joined with the Rollins Facilities Management Department to dedicate a tree to the City of Winter Park.
The pine tree was planted in Dr. Alfred J. Hanna Park (on the corner of Holt and New York Avenues) to thank the City of Winter Park for its unwavering support of the Holt school and to help replace trees that were uprooted by the slew of storms that ravaged the community this past fall. The pine tree also matches the type of foliage that originally grew in abundance in the area now housing Rollins College.
Assistant Provost Sharon Carrier, who will take over as Dean of the Holt School this summer, assisted members of HHSGA in the early morning ceremony. An engraved brick accompanying the tree memorializes the event for future generations of park visitors and students alike. HHSGA would like to thank the Valo family for support with funding this event.
