Rollins Dining Services Delivers Meal to Local Ronald McDonald House

February 19, 2009
From Ronald McDonald House

Eager to promote the Rollins principles of excellence, innovation and community, the management team of Rollins College Dining Services made a visit to the Ronald McDonald House at Florida Hospital. Bearing gifts of four delicious pasta dishes, Caesar salad, breadsticks and fudge brownies, Rollins treated 30 house residents to a delicious and well-deserved meal.

The Ronald McDonald House serves as a place of refuge for many families with children undergoing treatment in the hospital. The first Ronald McDonald House was opened in 1974 and since then 283 more have been built and opened. The houses are owned and operated by local Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Chapters, and they are funded by donations from businesses, organizations and individuals.

After serving the meal, Rollins Dining Services took a tour of the facility where they admired the brightly colored play room for small children, the tween room filled with computers and a television, and the beautifully decorated living rooms where residents relax and unwind.

“It was really rewarding for us, and we walked away very humbled,” said Jayme Bartlett, Marketing Coordinator of Rollins Dining Services. “Everyone was warm and welcoming and we will definitely plan another visit in the near future.”
