Sweater Drive to Benefit the Coalition for the Homeless
November 20, 2006
Rollins College is working in collaboration with the Orlando Science Center (OSC) on a sweater drive in honor of the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood traveling exhibit. The exhibit, which is on display at OSC through January 1, 2007, honors Rollins' most famous alumnus who lived in our "neighborhood" until he graduated in 1951.
Known for his signature sweater, which he changed into for every show, and in recognition of his contributions to communities around the world, the Orlando Science Center is conducting a local drive to collect new and "gently used" sweaters (men's, women's and children's). All sweaters will be donated to the Coalition for the Homeless.
As you shop for the holidays, look for sales on sweaters, or go through all of your closets and bring sweaters to campus for this worthwhile cause. Beginning Friday, December 1, collection boxes will be located on campus in the Alumni House, the Alfond Sports Center lobby, the Cornell Social Sciences building (second floor, history and politics offices), the Darden Lounge (Cornell Campus Center), the Olin Library lobby and the Rice Family Bookstore. Collection boxes will also be located at the Orlando Science Center, in the lobby of Winter Park City Hall at 401 Park Avenue South and at the Winter Park Public Library at 460 E. New England Avenue.
Thanks in advance for helping the Central Florida community and for doing your part to add warmth to the holidays for those in need.
