The Rollins Emergency Operations Team (EOPT), composed of senior administrators, is carefully monitoring current activity in the tropics. Rollins has an extensive emergency plan to address weather emergencies and other crises that may affect the campus.
The current forecast for Hurricane Ike calls for a continued west/northwest track into the Gulf of Mexico. It's still too early, however, to know the exact track the storm will take and we will continue to monitor Ike closely in the event that Central Florida is expected to be affected. Classes, functions and events will proceed as scheduled unless you are otherwise notified.
The busiest time of the hurricane season is here. Faculty and staff should review their personal plans and make preparations in the event another storm threatens Central Florida.
Please remember that the Rollins College Web site is the official source for information during an emergency. As needed, phone updates will be recorded on 407-646-2000, which is the main campus number, which becomes the Rollins Information Hotline during an emergency. The number is accessible to all callers. Undergraduate students who reside on campus are encouraged to talk to their family members about ways of getting in touch with one another should normal communication be disrupted.

As a result of Tropical Storm Hanna, the Central Florida area is forecast to experience periods of thunderstorm activity throughout Friday as rain bands move through. Rollins will also continue to closely monitor Hurricane Ike. The current forecast for Hurricane Ike may result in inclement weather in the Central Florida area on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. It's still too early, however, to know what track Ike will take. Classes, functions and events will proceed as scheduled unless you are otherwise notified.
